Update to prevalence with HSP in UK

I was asked how many people there are with HSP in the UK.

This is something which I have looked at in the past. I give three estimates based on three different rates, as shown in the table below. The headline would appear to be that there are "about 2000" with HSP in the UK, based on an average rate over 6 European countries made over several studies.

The main caveat around these studies is that they are often under-estimates because they are based on people who are seen in clinic. The population with HSP is likely to be higher because there will be people who either; have HSP but never attend clinic, actually have HSP but have been diagnosed with something else, or people who do not know that they have HSP.

Further research is needed to quantify this, although I did hear that there is a diagnosis gap of about 30-40%, suggesting that the population with HSP might be in the order of 2700.
